WSIS is the world’s largest annual gathering of the information and communications technology (ICT) for the development community. As a global multi-stakeholder platform, it facilitates the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing development goals. The WSIS Forum is co-organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in close collaboration with WSIS Action Line facilitators and other UN organizations.
The forum provided an opportunity for information exchange, knowledge creation and sharing of best practices, while identifying emerging trends and fostering partnerships.
As in previous years, Iran's Information Technology Organization (ITO) has provided the analytical report complemented by a series of statistical tables providing country-level data for the indicators and projects reports of different parts of the country which were in line with WSIS Action lines.

It should be mentioned that Iran won the prize in e-science section of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2019, held in Geneva, Switzerland.
